Hi, my name is Jason. And I’m thinking about where I’m at currently.
A couple weird things happened recently which made me think about my worth and value:
- Had a very adverse reaction from the director of Software Engineering at FluroTech when I said I had a criminal record
- Was a fuck and chuck for a chick I thought was really pretty
I think it’s important for me to take a second this moment, and think about where I’m at and what’s happening…
My worth is not determined by what other people think of me. And neither does my job define who I am as a person.
It’s funny that my friend Adam wrote this the other day:
Awesome dude!!! Have you ever thought about what your personal strategy is? Like if a potential employer asked you what makes you different and why should we hire you, do you have an answer?
I only ask because I’ve personally found it’s been incredibly helpful for me to have this thought through and it makes it a lot easier to focus my efforts on things I want to do.
My startegy is:
[What I do] + [scope or where I play] + [what makes me unique or what is my sustained competitive advantage]
Communicating Worth
This is more an exercise for number 2, where this girl was asking me a variety of questions regarding my status, to which I didn’t really say much. I’m not anything crazy, but I think the stars will align for me, or that the likelihood is much higher than for her, or anyone else I know at least.
I’m going to refine a couple things about how I communicate who I am and what I do. This feels like it would be bragging, but I’m a bit annoyed about the whole situation so…
I am a leading technology developer who is recognized for working in groups such as Sure Fuel, ClearGrid and FluroTech, GoVertical and White Whale Analytics.
FluroTech is valued with an $18MM valuation for which I, and one other, are solely responsible for the technology development. The start-up relies on me to ensure that the technology can be brought to market. I was able to successfully bring to market Version 1 in February 2019.
I have been hand-selected by leading start-ups including ClearGrid to help develop a flight software implementation which collects millions of points of Radio Frequency data; I was brought into this opportunity because I am a rapid learner, and am trusted to implement high risk, quality solutions.
Sure Fuel I developed the entire technology stack including iOS and Android application, alongside back-end infrastructure with consideration of future development and desires. We are currently in negotiations with an Oil & Gas Major who is seriously considering us for implementing a solution which would potentially scale to serve 2.6 Billion litres of fuel annually.
In this setting I also am responsible for managing a variety of contracts spanning from Shareholder Agreeements, Engineering engagements, Software engagements (employee, remote & contract) and others, while also maintaining my responsibilities.
With GoVertical we are currently implementing a solution using Computer Vision on behalf of mTheory which manages artists such as Zedd, Diplo, and Major Lazer. In this role I am Head of R&D responsible for managing a small team of individuals, challenged to create lasting solutions in a resource tight environment. I am currently using solutions such as Univariate Spline Interpolation and others to properly characterize movement within frames.
I am respected by individuals within the technology space including Lucasz from Showpass and Andrew Chau, the founder of Skip the Dishes. Both of these private companies are valued above $200MM and are considered Canadian success stories.
Throughout my life I have managed my own finances, and unfortunately have lost $30,000 in the last 2 months as a result of fraudulent activity and cannot recover this. However I will continue to act as necessary because I believe in my own financial capabilities and believe that I will be able to invest money in ways which will beat the S&P 500 which is the standard for my considerations.
So fuck you. I do what I want and there’s shit that you won’t even be able to understand.
