It’s became clear that I have to really sit down and define what Journey is after speaking about it to so many people…
What does Journey aim to do?
Journey is an app which is built in such a way, that only meaningful Journey’s and experiences are shared. Each individual user shares Journey’s which encompass beauty, intent, effort, and dedication rather than all the junk we see on social media today.
And the scary thing about all the junk we see online is that we consistently see millennials buy these hacks, shortcuts, tips, etc. to success, when we know it is ultimately dedication, commitment and sacrifice which is necessary to achieve anything (noteworthy anyhow).
A glimpse into someone’s personal Journey, and a their rise to a challenge of living a life of dedication.
It is meant to capture an individuals Journey; primarily for themselves and no one else. Challenge themselves and others for personal growth, and to capture this experience so they can see the fruits of their own labor at a later time.
The Dynamic
The Individual
Individuals define Journey’s which are important to their current life. Dance, entrepreneurship, research, hiking etc. And they submit experiences into each of these respective albums for themselves. To capture their effort, and to be able to look back in reflection on their effort.
At this time, they’ve created an experience. A Journey, and this continues to grow organically as time passes, providing positive reinforcement for the effort they’ve completed, and unique insight into how their path progresses.
This alone is noble in that, in the creation of an album, someone has defined something that is important to them that they would like to contribute to.
The Social Side
People can contribute to their friends Journey’s if they wish.
The Others
Next we have the others (which could also be an alternative word for the masses). We have the others, who see these cool experiences, and over time, create really unique experiences themselves.
But I thought this was made for the individual, not to be shared?
Journey provides unique links of these experiences that users can choose to share if they’d like, but is not a sharing platform in of itself. Alternatively, the Journey homepage (website), shares random displays, and categorizes random Journey’s to be browsed through.
Users can be searched, but not subscribed. If someone’s interested in seeing someone’s progress, they look them up by user name.
The Application as a General EXPERIENCE Capture – Applications in Travel
The way the app is built, it’s very well suited towards experience capturing and sharing total experiences. Hence, it’s very useful for users who are traveling, and doing other things as well. I think that will be evident when other people begin using the app outside of it’s original design. Regardless, any outcome is good.
